It has been a minute since the last From the Ground Up and there is no grand reason behind that.

A new year feels like the right moment to settle in and really commit. Not with a big announcement, just with steady momentum and consistency.

American Kitchen Gardens started with a simple idea. Food should feel closer again. Not in a back to the land kind of way and not wrapped up in trends or extremes, just closer to everyday life. Knowing where things come from, how they are grown, and how they fit into real routines and real homes.

Over the last few years, it has been interesting to watch how food, wellness, and place have started to overlap. Agrotourism is growing. People are traveling to eat, to walk gardens, to sit at long tables and slow down for a few hours. It is not about escaping modern life. It is about grounding it.

There is a noticeable shift away from chasing perfection and toward building systems that actually work. Gardens that are designed for busy lives. Food that feels intentional without being precious. Experiences that are thoughtful but not performative.

That is where our thinking has been living.

Looking ahead, we are keeping plans intentionally open. We are exploring ways to teach and share through content, guides, and hands on experiences. We are thinking about gardens as places people can visit and return to, not just something to scroll past. We are paying close attention to how food, hospitality, and wellness are starting to blend together and where there is room to build something real and lasting.

There will be growing. There will be cooking. There will be gatherings in time. There will also be structure and standards behind the scenes because anything meant to grow needs those first.

This year is about laying the groundwork. Testing ideas quietly. Building relationships. Showing up consistently and letting things take shape naturally.

From the Ground Up will be part of that again. A place to share what we are learning, what we are noticing, and how our thinking continues to evolve.

More soon. Happy New Year

Charlie
