It’s been a few months since you’ve heard from us, and the honest version is simple: life got in the way.
Not in a dramatic sense - just in the way that work piles up, projects expand, family needs more of you, and the days get full before you realize the season has changed. The garden kept doing what it does, but the writing and sharing slipped quietly into the background.
There wasn’t a grand plan to step back. We just ended up in a stretch of life where showing up online took a back seat to the work happening offscreen.
But here’s the part that matters: even in the quiet, things were still growing.
We weren’t idle, just buried (in both dirt and details).
Over the last few months, we’ve been:
Exploring new partnerships with people and businesses who believe in what AKG can become
Working on offerings that feel practical, not performative - things people will actually use and grow with
Testing ideas for products that make sense for real homes and real gardeners
Laying the groundwork for spring - literally and figuratively
There were conversations at kitchen tables, notes scrawled between errands, and more than one “we’ll circle back to that after the holidays.” It wasn’t polished, but it was real.
The pause wasn’t planned - but the future is.
We’re not calling this a comeback because we never really left. We were just navigating the same thing so many of you are: the push and pull of work, ambition, family, energy, and time.
The vision for next year is taking shape, and it looks like this:
Partnerships that help us reach more people locally and regionally
Products that support gardeners at every level - from seed to structure
Seasonal offerings that make spring feel less overwhelming and more possible
Content that’s useful, grounded, and rooted in real life - even if it arrives a little less often
We’re not trying to sprint into the new year. We’re pacing ourselves so what we build actually lasts.
Spring is the true start line.
Right now, we're in a planning season - talking with collaborators, sketching timelines, sourcing, testing, and quietly assembling the pieces of what AKG will offer when the ground softens.
You might start to see:
Early looks at spring installations and services
Seed and starter plans in the works
Local partnerships getting ready to bloom
A slow return of longer-form notes like this one
If you’ve stuck around - thank you.
The garden doesn’t punish you for missing a week or a month. It just waits, then lets you begin again.
That’s how we’re approaching AKG right now. Less “we’re back,” more “we’re still here - and getting ready.”
Spring will come fast. We’ll be ready when it does. And this time, we’ll bring you with us while things unfold.
If you’ve made it this far down, and you are willing - what are you hoping to see from us this season?
What have you been missing, or wishing we’d create or cover?
Hit reply and tell us - we’re listening as we plan what comes next.
Growing right alongside you,
Charlie
